High Contrast All-Optical Dual Wavelength Switching of Femtosecond Pulses in Soft Glass Dual-Core Optical Fiber

All-optical switching of 75 fs pulses centered at 1560 nm, driven by 270 fs, 1030 nm in a dual-core optical fiber exhibiting high index contrast is presented. The made thermally matched pair lead silicate and borosilicate glasses used as core cladding material, respectively. novel approach based on nonlinear balancing asymmetry, control pulse intensity induced group velocity reduction the fast channel. Due to soft glass with nonlinearity exceeding 20 dB reached using only few nanojoule energy. optimum length 14 mm, which closely match calculated coupling signal wavelength. results express significant progress comparison similar studies self-switching solitonic fibers represent application potential.
